As a former Blohm+Voss company, we are at home in the shipyard business. Testing services for new shipbuilding or ship repairs, on ferries, freighters, cruise ships or naval vessels - we are always at the forefront for you.

Terms such as stringers and frames are not foreign to us. Whether wall thickness testing or other non-destructive tests, they are carried out according to standards, according to customer requirements and in close coordination with international class societies such as DNV, Lloyds Register or RINA.

The tests are carried out when the ship is still in dock or at anchor, but sometimes also at full speed when time is short and tests can take place in the interior.

At the shipyard, occupational safety is not a freestyle, but an absolute duty. Our specialists will be happy to look after you on site and support you when it comes to assessing hazards that are not commonplace.

Dye penetrant testing (PT)

Dye penetrant testing can be used as a so-called red-white test on all non-absorbent materials that have a defect open to the surface. As an easy-to-apply method, it is primarily used for mobile applications.

Magnetic particle inspection (MT)

Cracks or near-surface flaws located on ferromagnetic components can be detected with magnetic particle inspection. Depending on the size of the component to be inspected, a mobile magnetic yoke or solenoid coil is used.

X-ray testing (RT) film

X-ray testing is one of the oldest test methods for reliably detecting detect deeper volume defects with certainty. Depending on the nature of the of the component, the radiographic medium varies. Traditionally, the evaluation is carried out via X-ray film.

Even though the technical procedure for X-ray remains the same, digital storage media such as imaging plates have become increasingly popular in recent years. In addition to the recyclability of the films, the rapid availability of the images is a plus.

Ultrasonic testing (UT)

If the inner surface of a component is not accessible, ultrasonic testing is usually used to find defects. For example, aircraft structures can be inspected reliably or wall thickness measurements can be carried out on ships.

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)

Phased array ultrasonic testing uses phased array technology to visualize complex volume defects in a wide variety of materials. As a mature volume inspection method, PAUT is often a substitute for "radiant" X-ray inspection.

Leak Test (LT)

In order to detect the smallest leaks in vessels, tanks, heat exchangers or other plant components, helium is the preferred test gas for industrial leak detection.

Endoscopy

Rigid or flexible endoscopes can be used for visual inspections in cavities and vessels that are difficult to see. The same applies to internal inspection of pipes and piping systems and other complex component geometries.
