Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)
Phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) uses phased array technology to visualize complex volume defects in a wide variety of materials. As a mature volumetric inspection technique, PAUT is often a substitute for "radiographic" X-ray inspection.
Like conventional ultrasonic testing, phased array ultrasonic testing is also based on the echo-pulse method. The advantage of the phased array over the traditional ultrasonic method is the sound bundling and coordination of multiple sound transducers. This means that even complex geometries can be scanned point by point and at different angles, using so-called sector scans, in a very short time.
Phase Array is used to inspect volume defects and weld seams, measure wall thicknesses, and test material combinations such as composites and CFRP in different planes.
Due to its wide range of applications in industry and aviation, this young testing method is finding more and more followers. Enter the race with our expert knowledge.
